[TOLEDO, OHIO] – Continue United of United Way of Greater Toledo is pleased to announce the launch of its first food challenge to benefit local food pantries. The contest will run from April 3 to May 24, with all proceeds directly supporting local food pantries and United Way’s ongoing work to raise awareness for and drive long-term solutions to food insecurity in NW Ohio.
The contest is open to anyone to participate. Participants may enter by emailing a picture of their dish to ContinueUnited@unitedwaytoledo.org along with the recipe, the name of the local food pantry they would like to support and/or represent, and paying a $35 donation fee. Public voting via Facebook will determine the top three entries.
Those finalists will move on to recreate their dish for a panel of judges and audience members. The overall winner will win a $200 gift certificate to a local restaurant and a donation to the food pantry they represented.
”We are excited to launch this contest and give back to our community,” said Scott Steele, chair of Continue United. “With the ongoing pandemic, food insecurity has become a growing concern, and we hope this contest will raise awareness and support for local food pantries.”
