FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
United Way of Greater Toledo Launches United for Food Emergency Fund to Combat Summer Hunger Crisis in Northwest Ohio

WHAT:
Announcing the Launch of United for Food – a new emergency food fund created by United Way of Greater Toledo to help address urgent food insecurity across Northwest Ohio during the high-need summer months.

DETAILS:
As inflation, rising consumer prices, and the impacts of federal tariffs continue to push household budgets to the brink, families across Northwest Ohio are facing increasing difficulty putting food on the table. At the same time, federal funding cuts to food banks have created a critical gap in resources during a time of high demand.

To address this crisis, United Way of Greater Toledo is proud to announce the launch of United for Food, an emergency fund aimed at collecting monetary donations to support local food assistance efforts throughout the summer.

Highlights:

  • United for Food is now accepting three-month donation commitments through May 31 to help families in need.
  • Starting June 1, the fund will accept one-time donations to continue support through the summer.
  • Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur has generously kicked off the campaign with a personal donation of $2,500.
  • Community members are encouraged to visit https://my.unitedwaytoledo.org/unitedforfood to learn more and make a contribution.

WHY IT MATTERS:
With food banks stretched thin and family grocery bills soaring, community-driven solutions like United for Food are vital to ensuring no one in Northwest Ohio goes hungry this summer.
