United Way of Greater Toledo CEO, Wendy Pestrue, joined statewide United Way leaders, policymakers, and business partners at the Ohio United Way ALICE Policy Summit this past Tuesday at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
The summit brought together leaders from across Ohio to focus on advancing policy solutions for ALICE households — those who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Discussions centered on the rising costs of childcare, healthcare, and basic necessities, which continue to strain working families across the state.
Pestrue participated in the panel “Business and Legislative Partnerships Moving Community Members Beyond ALICE,” emphasizing the need for collaborative action between nonprofits, legislators, and employers to create pathways toward financial stability.
