Whether it’s lending a helping hand during a day of service or committing to a long-term cause, volunteers help build stronger, more connected communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

This event is a great platform for local businesses and organizations to get their name and logo in front of volunteers, project hosts, and local media, while also supporting our community!
Day of Caring is an incredible event United Way of Greater Toledo hosts that engages volunteers and community members throughout our region.
Nonprofits, schools, childcare facilities, churches, and other eligible 501(c)(3) organizations in Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood counties can submit projects for Day of Caring.

Project submission deadlines will be Friday, February 27.
Volunteer projects tend to fall within a few different categories. There is a wide range of what these may entail, such as:
If you have an idea that falls outside these categories, please reach out to discuss the feasibility of the idea. We want to work together to create an opportunity for volunteers to help your organization!
We require that all projects take between 2-4 hours to ensure a fulfilling experience for the volunteers.
Matches are made based on team size, skills, and interests of volunteer groups.
Project Hosts must supply any necessary supplies to complete their project. This may include paint, cleaning supplies, landscaping tools, gardening materials, or whatever your project requires.
While not required, we strongly encourage providing your volunteer group with water and light refreshments.
There is NO rain date for Day of Caring, so we strongly encourage project hosts to have a backup plan if possible.
Any group of individuals can form a Volunteer Team! This includes businesses’ staff teams and departments, organizations like neighborhood groups, sports teams, professional organizations, alumni groups, workout and running/walking groups, and more.
