The IRS estimates the average taxpayer spends $200 on tax preparation services each year. In an effort to help people save more of what they earn, we have been helping low-to-moderate income families in our community by preparing their state and federal returns for free through the Free Tax Preparation Program. In the 2011 tax filing year, volunteers assisted nearly 2,700 individuals and families, which brought back $3.2 million to Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties through federal returns.

Become a volunteer tax preparer helping low-to-moderate income individuals and families stand on their own and bring more money back to our local economy. Without your help, this program would not be possible. This year we are looking to recruit 50 new volunteers in Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties.
