United Way of Greater Toledo is pleased to report the House of Representatives passed yesterday, by a vote of 264-157, the Health, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (also referred to as the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act). Reauthorization of Child Nutrition Programs was United Way Worldwide’s (UWW) top remaining health public policy agenda item for the 111th Congress. The bill meets the three goals UWW established for the reauthorization process. It will:
- Improve program access and participation by underserved children
- Enhance nutrition quality and provides adequate reimbursement
- Modernize and streamline program operations to improve program integrity and efficiency
