Your House or Mine?
United Way Family Information Network hosts this parent group for those who have a child with disabilities, who are considering or are using residential placement outside their home. Whether you are simply thinking about the possibility of your child someday moving into their own place, or your child is already in such a placement, or you’re unhappy with the placement they have, what we as parents go through is the same.
Moving out is a transition, and not just for our child. The doubts, fears, joys, new experiences & new people in their lives - each of us will have to face these changes. Facing them alone is tough. Your House or Mine is simply other parents in the same situation asking the same questions, and parents who have already been there & done that who may have some answers.
Your House or Mine offers guest speakers, group discussion, updates on policy or regulation that impact our child’s residential placement, or lack of it, and wonderful social opportunities to discover how to make the most of your child moving out. The schedule for September 2009 through June 2010 is posted on this website.
Call to find out what we’re doing next!
